Lens of Military was founded as a partnership between Luminary Education, holding company for Lens of Sport, and Scott Manthorne, author of the best-selling book, The Military Effect.
Our mission is to deliver superior education by creating accredited and certificate courses, as well as career training programs, through the lens of military™. Lens of Military will build upon the significant achievements and thought leadership established by Lens of Sport in higher education. Lens of Sport launched its first business courses in 2019 in collaboration with UCLA Anderson School of Management, marking the first time a top-ranked business school offered accredited undergraduate courses online.

In partnership with faculty from top universities and military leaders, we offer accredited and certificate courses as well as career training resources brought to life using real-world military case studies, examples, and appearances from high profile leaders from the U.S. military.

Lens of Military blends engaging curricula, “Hollywood meets Harvard” style content production, and insights from military thought leaders. Our mission is to enhance learning outcomes for all—military and non-military—through educational and career training programs that draw on the powerful lessons and experiences from the military.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Track: Complete the first two years through Lens of Military’s fully online Associate’s degree in Business, followed by the final two years at a University of California or California State University campus, or at one of our other academic partners.
- Certificate Program Track: A one-year program that includes internships and field study projects, designed to prepare learners for entry-level roles in industries, including those closely aligned with the U.S. armed services and other government agencies.
CAREER TRAINING RESOURCES
- Seminars: Short courses (60-90 minutes) covering a wide range of topics including networking, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and career planning.
- Industry for Military Programs: Training for U.S. industry to better engage U.S. military.
- Military to Industry: Training for military and spouses to develop post-service careers.
